Semaglutide Sema, as we call it, is an FDA approved medication originally developed for diabetes management, and often known as Wegovy and Ozempic. Its mechanism of action mimics the hormone GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1), which regulates appetite and food intake. By slowing gastric emptying and promoting feelings of fullness, semaglutide reduces caloric intake and encourages significant weight loss. Clinical trials show patients can lose up to 15% of their body weight over 68 weeks. Its other benefits include helping lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Tirzepatide or Monjaro, is an FDA approved medication approved for type 2 diabetes and is expected to receive approval for weight loss soon. This is a dual agonist, second generation medication, targeting GLP-1 and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptors, offering a more comprehensive approach to managing both blood sugar and appetite. Studies show that Tirzepatide can lead to even greater weight loss than Semaglutide, with some patients achieving up to 22.5% weight loss in clinical trials.

Retatrutide is the newest, third generation medication we have for weight loss, acting as a triple agonist. This one targets GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. This multifaceted approach addresses not only appetite and glucose control but also energy expenditure, potentially offering unprecedented levels of weight loss. This will likely become the future leader in obesity management once FDA approval is secured. For patients with autoimmune and increased weight gain, this is our preferred medication of choice, due to its enhanced benefits in potentially gaining muscle mass.

FAQs

  • Our third generation weight loss peptide is our favorite. A GLP1, GIP and Glucagon receptor agonist. It is being investigated for targeting non-alcoholic fatty liver and cardiovascular health. This added component increases energy expenditure and lipid metabolism, essentially enhancing fat metabolism.

Why choose Retatrutide? It works faster, safer, better, with less side effects and is showing some potential in lowering cholesterol, assisting in cardiovascular health, helping build lean muscle mass and helps with sleep. It is achieving over 24% total body weight loss, surpassing the others. Let's go guys!!!

  • Sema, as we call it, is an FDA approved medication originally developed for diabetes management, and often known as Wegovy and Ozempic.

In 2017 Ozempic or semaglutide was approved by the FDA to help patients manage their Type 2 Diabetes and then approved in 2021 as Wegovy for weight loss. Moral of the story, same drug, and treats both.

    Did you know?

    • It is a GLP1 receptor agonist (Glucagon like peptide 1 receptor agonist)

    • Its main mechanism of action is to regulate appetite and glucose metabolism by delaying gastric emptying and promoting insulin secretion.

    • Even more simplified: acts on your hungry receptor, and tells it you’re full.

    • It’s approved in treatment of obesity for adolescents 12 and older

    • Promotes lower cardiovascular risk

  • Tirzepatide or Mounjaro is another FDA approved peptide used for weight loss. It mimics the hormone glucagon like peptide (GLP1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIGP)  — big words all to mean a dual acting peptide or a peptide that acts on two receptor sites.

What does this really mean? It has all the benefits of Ozempic, but with amplification of the effects, healthier redistribution of fat cells, less side effects and more stable results. Simplified: it doesn't just starve you!

What do you mean by starving you? Why our practice shys away from Ozempic or the mentality of “Curving your appetite so much you’ve lost 50-100 lbs" is because that's not a lifestyle change. We are diving into potential danger areas of binge eating, anorexia, body dysmorphia and just outright bodily neglect. We are attempting to adjust a lifestyle and encourage healthy eating habits, not fear based habits, encourage exercise that fits your lifestyle, promote sleep/proper energy expenditure, and with all these plus a little help with small dosed weight loss peptides, we will show you how much better you will FEEL and LOOK. Remember, Ozempic only acts on the hunger receptors - meaning if you don’t have a binge eating problem, the second and third generation peptide options are superior and recommended.

  • Majority of patients are on these peptides for 4-8 months, some a year. We cycle you off of them for 4-8 weeks to keep your receptors sensitive to the medications. We begin to wean you slowly when we are about 5-10 lbs within goal wait.

  • All of these weight loss peptides are injected subcutaneously the same day every week, ideally at night on an empty stomach (at least 2 hours post a meal).

  • Great question. Like with any diet, exercise or lifestyle modification, when you stop you go back to a sedentary lifestyle and have the potential to gain back all the weight loss, if not more. Our practice does not prescribe these peptides/medications to just anyone. You have to adjust your lifestyle to be approved through us, follow the protocols, repeat labs and align with our core beliefs. Our providers have dedicated research and time to each of our customized programs, and believe fully in them. If you are looking for a quick fix, thats not us. We are on the train to changing the face of medicine through prevention and wellness.

When you just simply lose weight without gaining or maintaining enough muscle, your body wastes away because it is seeking sources of energy and nutrients. Will I gain my weight back after I get off? Yes, in fact faster than before if you didn’t adjust your lifestyle. It is much quicker to gain fat back, than muscle, so do the math. We need you meeting your macros daily, minimum of 3 weight resistance training days a week, hydrating and optimizing sleep, as its the most important factor for body homeostasis.

Our practice monitors your dosing, duration and symptoms closely. We will wean you on and off slowly so that we allow the receptors to do their job naturally vs overwhelming them with fast fluctuations and stress out certain organs vital to the role and function of these peptides.

  • Yes, yes we do and repeat labs in 6 months to monitor you closely. We also measure body weight, and the rest of your body composition levels to further assist us in customizing your dose. We offer in house lab draws, or you can take our list of required labs to your PCP for insurance coverage.

    • If you are pairing it with a Growth Hormone (Ipamorelin, Sermorelin, Tesamorelin, CJC-500) - Add IGF: $50

We also offer comprehensive, hormone, and thyroid panels upon request.

  • The majority of our patients don’t suffer from serious side effects due to our low dosing, however reports of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, constipation and abdominal pain have been reported.

Serious side effects yet rare: pancreatitis, gallbladder complications, or thyroid tumors (for those with family history of thyroid cancers). It is contraindicated for patients with a person or a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2 syndrome

  • No, if you are a type 2 diabetic, please consult with your primary care to assist with insurance and treatment.

  • Our pricing ranges from $350-$450 for all three options, but the price is dose dependent.

  • With the rise in use of these medications, we are seeing the potential rise in complications because of the black market and pharmacies selling unregulated medications to people. I’ll keep this topic short and sweet. We have horror stories all over the medical industry talking about products being mixed incorrectly and sold, less product to diluent, incorrect unsafe dosages and no lab requirements occurring. If you don't want long term side effects or in simple terms, to screw up your body and organs, you are paying a professional to diagnose you, assess you, build a plan for you and prescribe A MEDICATION to you, not just for the product. I promise you, the short term gain isn’t worth the long term potential effects that come with it.
